A US-based employee-owned engineering company with a global reach. CH2M Hill OMI is its contract operations arm.
What has it done?
On the engineering side, CH2M Hill secured a number of cutting-edge projects in 2007, including the zero discharge Masdar City in Abu Dhabi, the water system programme management for the City of Chicago, Luggage Point Advanced Wastewater Treatment Plant in Australia, Santa Fe Buckman Direct Diversion Intake, and what will be the largest UF membrane plant in the world at Lakeview, Canada. Completed projects for the year include a contamination warning system for Glendale, Arizona, which is the first of its kind in the world, the design of the Fusina Integrated Wetlands Treatment Project near Venice, Italy, and the PowerSeraya SWRO desalination plant in Singapore.
Why is it shortlisted?
- CH2M Hill proved itself again and again in 2007 to be at the cutting edge of engineering for the water sector, whether it is providing the technology for the largest UF membrane plant in the world, finding new ways to guarantee the water safety of drinking water for Glendale, Arizona, or being the first to use 16-inch membrane modules in a major desalination plant.
- During 2007, CH2M Hill established itself as the leading "green engineer" in the global water sector, through its involvement in Masdar, the Western Corridor water reuse programme in Australia, and the Fusina Integrated Wetlands Project.
- The integration of CH2M Hill OMI ensures CH2M Hill's engineering strengths are carried through to service delivery.
