What is it?
NEWater is the reclaimed water brand of PUB, Singapore's national water agency. It is produced in four separate plants with a total combined capacity of 240,000m3/d. Most of the output goes towards industrial use, but increasingly it is blended in the city's reservoirs. Most recently, PUB contracted its fifth NEWater plant with a capacity of 228,000m3/d at Changi.

Why is it shortlisted?
- Singapore is the world leader in the application of reclaimed water. Its NEWater strategy has created the template for all agencies looking to introduce potable water reuse.
- The NEWater programme is now on track to double its original target of having 15% of water supply from reuse water by 2010.
