IDE Technologies

What is it?

The leading Israeli desalter, and one of the pioneers of thermal and membrane technology. It is owned jointly by the Delek Group and Israel Chemicals.

What has it done?

New contract wins in 2009 included a 100,000m3/d municipal SWRO project in India together with Wabag, a BOT contract to supply a 45,400m3/d plant to the Pointe-à-Pierre refinery in Trinidad, and the contract to develop the 500,000m3/d Soreq SWRO in Israel together with Hutchison Water - one of the largest membrane desalination plants in the world. During the year, IDE also commissioned the first phase of the 368,000m3/d Hadera SWRO plant, while on the thermal side, the company completed work on a 96,000m3/d MED plant for the Reliance oil refinery in Jamnagar in India and a 100,000m3/d MED facility at a power plant in Tianjin, China.

What makes it special?

• IDE has overcome a lack of access to the wider Gulf desalination market and used its thermal and membrane expertise to capitalise on opportunities all over the world, while at the same time dominating its home market with major projects at Ashkelon, Soreq and Hadera.

• Success in Chennai means IDE is now poised to tap the larger-scale municipal market in India, having already made significant inroads on the industrial side - a further demonstration of the company’s drive and ambition when it comes to markets outside its home region.

• IDE has held its share in an increasingly crowded market - a singular achievement resulting from its relentless drive to innovate both technically and financially.
