This year’s Global Water Awards were presented alongside our conference,
GWI 2008 London: Where do Water and Money Meet?, on 21st and 22nd of April 2008. The winners in each category are listed below.
- Water Company of the Year: for the water company that has made the most significant contribution to the development of the international water sector during the year.
- Desalination Company of the Year: for the desalination plant supplier which has made the greatest overall contribution to the desalination industry during 2007.
- Public Water Agency of the Year: for the public sector organization which has made the greatest contribution to meeting the challenges of water supply during 2007.
- Water Deal of the Year: for the deal, signed in 2007, which has made the biggest contribution to the advancement of public-private partnerships in the international water sector.
- Desalination Deal of the Year: for the deal signed during 2007 which represents the most significant step forward for the industry in terms of financial innovation or in meeting the demands of challenging circumstances.
- Water Project of the Year: for the water or wastewater project, commissioned in 2007, that
represents the most significant contribution to water technology
and environmental protection.
- Desalination Plant of the Year: for the desalination plant, commissioned in 2007, that represents the most impressive technical achievement in the industry.
- Environmental Contribution of the Year: for environmental stewardship in the water industry as exemplified by the project, process or organization that best reflects the ability of a water/wastewater plant to leave a small environmental footprint.
- Bank of the Year: for the financial institution which has made the greatest
contribution to the financing of water services during 2007.
- Law Firm of the Year: for the law firm that has made the biggest contribution to making
the international water sector work more efficiently.
- Technology Idol: for the new technology deemed to be the most promising in
bringing down the cost of developing new water resources.
